HOW, WHEN & WHERE TO PAY

At Long Island Counseling, fees are set to fall reasonably within the current market rates for our area.  During your first visit, often called a consultation, if you decide you’d like to pursue treatment, you will have an opportunity to discuss fees and discuss a schedule for treatment that works for you.

Therapy sessions are typically arranged for weekly visits but some patients prefer to meet on a more frequent basis, coming 2 or even 3 or 4 times per week.   Each session is 45 minutes long.  Since the therapist often has sessions scheduled both before and after your session, it’s important to come on time in order not to miss out on any of your session.

For patients wishing to engage in treatment 2 or 3 (or more) times weekly, a more flexible fee schedule may be available for you.  You should take this up during discussions at the time of your consultation.

Fees are charged on a per-session basis, and are accepted at the time service is provided. Cash, personal checks, and credit cards are accepted.

A central principle at Long Island Counseling is that regular treatment with minimal interruption in scheduling is critical for good outcomes.   Long Island Counseling deeply respects the work of psychotherapy and honors it by maintaining the highest ethical standards in the treatment and care of patients, and in its billing policy.  The billing policy at Long Island Counseling holds each patient or couple responsible for his, her, or their, scheduled session.  Cancellations are discouraged except in emergencies.  In the event of a cancellation, Long Island Counseling strives to make up all missed sessions.
